i was cruisin around deviantart.com and i found this painter, and i really like her.

i really like it when people paint what they like and stick to it and develop more and more into the subject matter. that is what i've liked so much about painting trees. by painting 'the same thing' over and over again, i've gotten better at painting trees, of course, but it's also like a soft blanket....like, i can be sure of the trees, and all i have to figure out is the background, the message, the meaning, the colors. it's both comfortable and freeing....
i've been working on one at the studio for a while now, and i have hopes of finishing it today. It gets pretty hot up there [i paint in abel's attic. its bigger than it sounds] so i haven't been up there very often or for very long. but the painting i've been working on is pretty neat. it's painted after a poem. when i finish it i'll post the poem and the painting together.
so, art show, november 15, abel's house, featuring paintings by YOURS TRULY and a good friend of mine from Austin. We're both newer painters, and we're totally pumped. so everyone should come...november 15, abel's house, night time. there will be some free snacks, live music, visual art, and a good time all around.
ps: in the words of my sister, "just because i think sara palin should stay home and raise her kids instead of running for office does not mean i'm anti-feminist."
can't wait till we meet
linda.charlotte out.

HAHAHA yes, the onion.
I can't wait for your show. I am working on doing a bunch of mary + jesuses (grammar on that?), but so far I am being my usual perfectionist slow-poke self and not finishing the first one. but yeah, it will be good to see the work of people who can actually finish stuff.
I was confused by your sister's comment - does that mean she doesn't think palin's capable of doing the job, or that she should just focus on raising her kids instead of galavanting off to run the country every day? Not asking because I want to argue either way, just was confused about which way she meant it.
PS I can't believe you go to deviantart.com! It is awesome.
my sister is a mom, so she thinks Palin should hold her horses on politics and raise her kids. i tend to agree with her. I mean, she has an autistic kid...they don't always deal well with inconsistency. It's not like being a mom disqualifies her from being a candidate, but under her specific circumstances, i think she should put her family first. four years is a long time to put your 'mom hat' on the shelf. And i guess, sure, you could do both. but i have to say i doubt you could do both well. i guess that's not very fair. but if she wanted to do big-time politics, maybe she should have waited till later to have kids.
for my sister, all she wants in the world is enough money so that she can not work all the time and instead spend time with her kids. i think for her it stings that palin HAS that opportunity, and isn't taking advantage.
